Sephora Play! September 2017 Review - Fall Into Beauty

Yes! My Sephora Play! box has arrived for the month of September, and I am excited to see what is in store for me this time. Sephora Play! is a monthly subscription box that delivers six beauty samples around a theme each month in a cute bag for only $10. These items range from hair, makeup, skincare, nails, and one item is always a perfume. Also, the items are samples of products found in Sephora stores, so you can expect them to be high end and accessible. This is quickly becoming one of my favorite boxes, because the value is amazing (usually about $50), the items are deluxe sizes, and the products usually fit me perfectly. I can’t wait to see what this month has in store.

This month’s theme is “Fall into Beauty.” Their themes usually have a deeper meaning, but this one just appears to be beauty products ready for this new season. I like that, since this season especially takes on a new look with deeper colors and moisturizing items, so I am sure this box will deliver products accordingly. I am hoping for a brown eyeshadow or a deep rosy lip color. This bag is a little different as well. They are usually white, so any color is exciting. The fabric is a soft satin that reads “a change of face.” I love that it works with the change of seasons, but it could work for anytime of the year. This would look great on your vanity or it could be used for travel. Now, onto the products.

Benefit Cosmetics Gimme Brow Volumizing Fiber Gel in Medium

$24.00 - 0.1 oz    ($7.20 Value)

I already know that I am obsessed with this product, but there is one issue. I use the tint “Light,” and since I have super blonde eyebrowns, this medium tint is just too dark for me. That being said, this brow tint is one of my favorite beauty items of all time. It works magic by filling in natural color all while combing your eyebrows in place to create a filled in look without much effort at all. I also love how it adds volume. I don’t know what to think of this first product, because while it is a great item, the color is off. Why have us fill out a profile if you’re not going to match the products to us!? Kind of annoying.

Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner in Black

$22.00 - 0.016 oz    ($11.00 Value)

These deluxe eyeliner pencils are basically full size products to me, because it takes me so long to use a full pencil, especially since I rarely wear liner. I have quite a light complexion, and black eyeliner is a little harsh, so I tend to only wear it for late nights out or when dressing up. This eyeliner by Stila is amazing, too! It draws easily without tugging, and it stays in place after drying. The black is a true, dark black as well, as it doesn’t look grey after applying. This is a great eyeliner, especially for someone that doesn’t have a steady hand or wear it often, because it is so easy to apply. Too bad I won’t use it but a couple times a month.

DevaCurl Melt Into Moisture Matcha Butter Conditioning Mask

$36.00 - 8 oz    ($6.75 Value)

I have never heard of this conditioning mask, let alone brand, so this is a completely new brand for me. I love using a deep conditioner at least once a week to replenish and renew my hair from all the pollutants, hair products, and styling tools I use every day. This conditioner works great, and it turns my straw like hair into butter with only one use, and it doesn’t weigh it down. Also, it smells fresh, so I love getting waifs of it throughout the day. This is a pretty good sized bottle, too, and it will last me much more than a couple of uses. I am happy with this new discovery, and this item is going straight into my shower to use until it is gone.

Laura Mercier Velour Lovers Lip Colour in Happy

$28.00 - 0.12 oz    ($21.00 Value)

I was hoping for some fall colors, and while this isn’t exactly what I was wishing for, it is perfect! This cranberry pink is so beautiful and blends the transition from summer into fall perfectly. Also, this is a regular tube lipstick, which I much prefer over the liquid form, so I am happy we are trending out of it. The formula is amazing as well. It goes on so smoothly and feels like velvet on my lips. Again, even though it is a deluxe sample, it will take me forever to use up if I ever do at all. This will be going into my purse for this entire fall season, and it will go perfectly with my light flannel or heavy sweater depending on this changing weather.

Belif The True Cream Moisturizing Bomb

$38.00 - 1.68 oz    ($7.60 Value)

Ohhh! This is another product and brand I’ve never heard of before, and it looks like something I am going to love. This moisturizing cream provides skin with intense hydration, which leaves it supple, smooth, and deeply nourished. Also, the newly invented formula allows the cream to burst with moisture and dry quickly without stickiness. I need hydration more and more as the temperature changes, especially on my face, so this item will be great for me. The jar is quite small, so it will only last me for about a week’s use, but that will be enough to know if I like it enough to repurchase. This may be my favorite item in the entire box.

Stella McCartney Pop Eau de Parfum

$72.00 - 1.6 oz    ($2.25 Value)

I’ve been waiting for this perfume sample for a while, and I am really glad I finally get to try it out. This woody floral is created with notes of violet, plumeria, sandalwood, musk, and green mandarin to create the perfect balance of both feminine and masculine. The combination makes a bright, contemporary, and positive scent. I really enjoy this perfume, as I thought I would, and it represents my personality and what I like quite well. I could picture myself wearing this as a basic daily perfume whether it be running errands, going to work, or hanging out at a brewery for drinks. I am going to cherish this scent, because I really don’t need a full size of anything, but I just may have to repurchase.

Overall, this month’s box is pretty wonderful. The only two draws is the black eyeliner that I won’t really use, and the wrong color for the brow gel, but I really like both products and formulas, a lot! I am excited about the two new brand discoveries with the face cream and deep conditioner. Plus, they are such practical items. The perfume might be the most perfect scent I’ve ever smelled, and I may just have to finally purchase the full size bottle. To round it all out, that lip color is perfect for fall, and I am so glad it isn’t a liquid formula this time. This month’s box has a value of $55.30. This is just incredible for a $10 box, expecially since I will be able to use five out of the six samples. I can’t wait to see what October has in store for me.
