Walmart Beauty Box Winter 2014 Review

My first Walmart Beauty Box has arrived, and I know that everyon's boxes are a little different, so I am excited to see what I recieved inside. Walmart Beauty Box is a seasonal box that costs only $5 and is full of full size and sample size drugstore items. I like to find drugstore gems to use along with my high end items, so this is a great way to sample what's out there.

The box doesn't seem that full, but for $5 what can you expect. I always see some full size items in the box along with the cheap samples. If I didn't get any full size items, I am not sure that this box would even be worth the five dollars.

Rimmel London Lash Accelerator Endless Mascara in Black

$7.97 - 0.33 fl oz

This is awesome! This product alone is worth the cost of the box. I don't usually go for Rimmel products, but I actually like this mascara. It lenthened my lashes while seperating. I like to layer two different mascaras to get this same effect, but with this product, I could definitely just use one. I am already happy with this box.

Dove Pure Care Dry Oil Restorative Hair Treatment

$11.98 - 3.38 fl oz

My hair is thin and on the greasy side, so I thought this oil treatment really wasn't for me. But, for the last month, my hair has been so staticy. I think it is because of the dry winter months. I used a few drops on the bottom half of my hair and it dramatically reduced the amount of static. Plus, it smelled great all day. I noticed it did leave my hair a little greasy, but I prefer that over a static puff. You use such a small amount every day so this sample will really last me a while.

Neutrogena Healthy Skin Boosters Facial Cleanser

$7.47 - 9 fl oz

This facial cleanser is a foaming gel that left my skin clean and refreshed. It says that it won't leave your skin over-dry, but it definitely left my skin a little dry. I am usually using scrubs on my face, because I feel like they clean better, but this gel is a nice alternative. I am a big fan of the Neutrogena brand, and I am glad I got to try this before I bought it. This sample will last me at least a week.

L'Oreal Paris Anti-Oxidant Color Vibrancy Nourishing Shampoo & Conditioner

$3.97 - 12.6 fl oz each

I've used L'Oreal shampoo and conditioner before, but I normally go with the volume formula. I don't dye my hair, so I figured this wouldn't do anything for me. I know that it helps dyed hair last longer and also helps stop dullness. This shampoo and conditioner combo actually made my undyed hair color more vibrant. I like that the shampoo had a nice lather and the conditioner left my hair brushable. These are pretty cheap for shampoo and conditioner. I may have to switch over to this brand.

L'Oreal Paris Advanced Haircare Color Vibrancy Instant Shock Treatment

$5.97 - 6.8 oz

This reminded me of a deep conditioner or a hair mask. I didn't notice it helping with the vibrancy of my hair color, but my hair was definitely softer and easily manageable. I probably won't purchase this item, because my hair doesn't normally need extra conditioning, and I have a few deep conditioners already. But, I am glad I got the chance to sample this item.

John Frieda Luxurious Volume Touchably Full Shampoo & Conditioner

$5.47 - 8.45 fl oz each

I know of the John Frieda brand, but I have never tried any of their shampoo or conditioner. I have pretty fine, flat hair, so I like to get volume from anywhere possible. This shampoo has a nice thick lather and left my hair feeling super clean. The conditioner didn't smooth out my hair as well as I like, but it was really brushable and easy to manage. I also like that it left my hair smelling great, and it definitely had more volume. I can see myself purchasing this product in the near future.

Hard Candy All Glossed Up Hydrating Lip Stain in Red Minx

$5.00 -  2.3 g

This is another full size item, which I love in a basically free box. I've heard of this brand before, but I've never purchased any of the products. I am a big fan of lip stains because normal color washes off my lips so quickly. The only problem is that lip stains leave my lips so dry. This formula was really moisturizing and felt like chap stick . My one complaint is that the color on my lips wasn't as vibrant as it is in the tube. I won't use this color that much, because I normally wear subtle colors, but this will get used.

I estimate this box to be worth $16.19. I only paid $5, so I feel like that is a pretty good deal. I expected all these items to be cheaper drugstore items, but I actually found some items that I will buy. It is nice to sample cheaper items, because I don't always like to purchase expensive beauty items. Sometimes my bank account won't allow it. This comes four times a year, and it only costs $5, so I will be happy to keep with this $20 annual subscription. I am looking forward to what is in next season's box.
