Birchbox The Brilliant Blonde Kit Review

Along with Birchbox’s normal subscription box, they also offer “Discovery Kits” with themed samples at a great price. Once I save up enough points I love to splurge on these boxes to try out even more samples, but also to help with a particular beauty concern or stock up on products I love. This one in particular is just for blondes. These products inside will keep my hair looking it’s best without the dilemma of brassiness, ashiness, and color fade. Plus, they will also help bring out the best of my natural blonde hair. I am excited for all these products and all the good hair days to come.

Along with the samples, each of their discovery boxes comes with a descriptive card. This will tell you what each sample does, how to use, and also how much it costs if you’re interested in purchasing the full size product. I love these cards, because they give me so much more information about the product, and I don’t have to research it online. Also, they are great to keep as a reminder to what I loved when it is time to restock my bathroom cabinet. After checking out the card, I am really excited about these samples, and see how well they all work.

evo Fabuloso Platinum Blonde Colour Intensifying Conditioner

$35.00 - 250 ml    ($4.20 Value)

This conditioner may be a little pricey, but it will still save you money. By using daily, this product will extend the life of your color-treated hair by adding shine, diminishing brassiness, and repairing. Plus, it will do it without chemicals like ammonia, peroxide, sulfates, or parabens. I actually do not have color treated hair, but I do worry about brassiness and shine, and I also would love some extra repair. They suggest you leave this in for three minutes, which felt like a lot less time when I actually watched a clock. Surprisingly, my hair looked and felt great, even after one use. I really like this conditioner, but since it isn’t something that I necessarily need, I think this sample will be it for me.

$29.00 - 11.8 oz    ($4.15 Value)

It doesn’t matter if you have strawberry, platinum, or silver blonde hair, this shampoo will brighten the tones you want while removing any brassiness. While this is another brass reducing product, that is really my biggest concern, and this works wonders. I love that it is vegan, and also protects your hair from fading. Another great addition to this product, this shampoo will protect your hair front sun’s UV rays. I live in a very sunny climate, so this is a must have for me. On top of it all, it really smells great. I’ve used purple shampoos in the past that really don’t smell great, so this is a great addition to the product. I am liking this one, and I might have to purchase again.

$29.00 - 11.8 oz    ($1.23 Value)

I really hate receiving these foil samples, because they are never enough product to really get a great since of how well it works, but at least I get to try out the conditioner along with the shampoo to get the best out of both products. This conditioner for blondes will give your hair hydration, protection, strength, and stops it from fading. Also, like everything else, it will pull brassiness out of your hair. I do like this conditioner, but I really wish there were more of a sample. This does smell just like that shampoo, so the scent is nice. If I do purchase the shampoo, I think I’ll have to purchase the conditioner if I end up purchasing the shampoo. Might as well get the best results.

$23.00 - 8 oz    ($2.87 Value)

Once again, here is another violet shampoo sample. While it does have many traits of the others (vegan and paraben free, reduces brassiness) this one will tackle my biggest concern, warm tones. My dad has orange-red hair, and he passed that strawberry hair along to me. Since my skin is already pink toned, my red hair is too much, and I always try to tone it down. Ashy hair compliments my skin perfectly, so this shampoo could really save me there. I did notice, this isn’t as drying as most violet shampoos, and it smells great too. You know the scent if you’ve ever owned a Beauty Protector product in the past. This may be my favorite sample in this box, and I will definitely be purchasing more. It is also great for silver or white hair, if that pertains to you.

$58.00 - 5.9 oz    ($4.92 Value)

I’ve never used a “glaze” before, and to be honest, it sounds greasy and fattening. But, in reality, this hair glaze will give your dry, lackluster locks some brilliant shine. Even for girls with untreated/uncolored hair, this product will intensify color and highlights as well. What I really like about this product, this glaze is super nourishing. Once it a while, my hair starts to feel like straw, and it really just needs a splash of moisture. This glaze does the trick. I did notice my hair feeling and looking just a little weighted down after using this product, but I can always style it back when I use this in the future. I don’t think I will purchase the full size product, but this sample was fun to use.

$44.00 - 8.5 fl oz    ($1.19 Value)
$46.00 - 6.8 fl oz    ($1.56 Value)

Yet again, this is another purple shampoo and conditioner, and this time it is in foil packets. I do like to try out these different brands to see what works best, but the foil sample isn’t enough to see any results, and I’d much prefer a little variety in the box. They are usually great at that. The violet pigments in this shampoo and conditioner will cancel out yellow and brassy tones and will restore your blonde to the most beautiful shade. It is also enriched with vitamins, antioxidants, and conditioners, so it will not only help your tone, but it will keep hair healthy and strong. This is the most expensive shampoo combo they’ve supplied, and it is probably my least favorite, so I will not be purchasing this in the future.

$10.00 - 0.5 oz    (Full Size!)

This is yet another purple product, but it is not your typical shampoo / conditioner combo. This blow in balm goes into damp hair when it needs a little boost, and is heat activated. With one use, this product will restore color intensity and turn away any brassiness or unwanted yellow tones. Also, this sample is enough for two uses, which could equal months of great looking hair. Also, this product creates an ultimate shine, and doesn’t leave it feeling or looking gunky, so you can use it before work or a night out. It also says you can layer products on top. I really like this product, and it is a great way to get the most out of your hair color, but since I don’t color my hair, again, this just isn’t the best product for me.

$18.00 - 4.2 oz    ($1.29 Value)

I remember a time where Sun-In was a staple in your beach bag, and my mother would help me create my own lemon water concoction to spray in my hair to lighten my already blonde locks. There was an obsession with ultra-light hair, and I was right in the middle of it all. Times have changed slightly, mainly just grew up a little, and this product is the perfect fit. With a blend of chamomile and honey, by spraying it in your hair you’ll notice a gradual lightening effect to blonde locks. It will also leave your hair more luminous than before. I really like this brand, so I was excited to see a product from their line. Also, it smells so good. I am throwing this in my beach bag right away and bring back some of my childhood memories.

Overall, I really enjoy this Brilliant Blonde Kit. I think it could’ve offered a larger range of products, but at least I know I will use up all that shampoo and conditioner. The Beauty Protector shampoo is my favorite discovery from this box, and I will definitely be feeling nostalgia from the Klorane sun lightening spray. Honestly, I will get good use out of every last product. This discovery kit has a value of $31.41. That is great for the $18 price tag. I really enjoy everything from this box, and it is great to try out many different products for half the cost of one.
